Waiting and Wax

We waited almost two and a half hours today for what turned out to be about a five minute ear doctor's appointment for James. Ridiculous! And after all that, the conclusion was "he has wax in his ears, so I can't see if the tubes are still in, give him ear drops and come back and see me in a month." (And the left hearing aid problem did seem to be that he's outgrown his current earmolds, which is what I thought three weeks ago -- they made new impressions today, so he'll just have one hearing aid for a week or so. Grr, wish we'd been able to get it done earlier!)

James was a perfect angel during the wait, though. He amused himself by climbing up and down chairs in the waiting room, and then creating his own "basic training" by belly-crawling under the armrests on a row of chairs. It was hilarious. Then we got moved to a waiting room in back, where he had a puzzle to play with for a little while. Mike was showing him some signs on the wall and James was picking out a bunch of letters (O, E, Y, H, X, S, etc.), and the receptionist was very impressed that a two-year old knew so many letters! :)

The grandma and auntie contingent had a much more entertaining morning, going strawberry-picking, visiting Southern Season, and enjoying the nice weather out on the deck. And now they're downstairs engaged in what sounds like a rousing match of Wii bowling -- I'm off to join them!

P.S.  The third picture is James answering the question "how old are you?" with "Two!"  He doesn't quite have the hang of holding up only two fingers, though!
