Bring a Friend

Last week was "Friends and Family" week at karate, where the kids could bring a guest along to a class.  Matthew was super-excited about having James come with him.  And James had a lot of fun, although he was a little disappointed that they didn't get to do the jumping over blocks game!  :)

Matthew said the senseis gave James lots of compliments. :)

St. Aug

Back in December, we had a fun but chilly time walking around St. Augustine and the fort.  The pet shop might have been everyone's favorite stop!  (James really wanted to get an Alabama dog shirt, but we told him our dogs didn't wear shirts!)  The boys also liked the guy with the digeridoo and dressed-up beagle. :)

We got to see two times of them shooting off the cannon (once from on top of the fort where we couldn't see much, and once from the bottom where we had a pretty good view.)

In one of the rooms of the fort, they had a volunteer discussing the medical equipment of the time -- James did not really want to hear all the details about how to amputate an arm!  (And who can blame him?)  The secret room where they kept the ammunition was a bigger favorite. :)

PS: My surgery on Friday went fine and I came home Saturday afternoon.  Recovery seems to be going well -- I'm moving slowly and sleeping a lot, but haven't had much pain.  I'm not allowed to really do anything for a couple weeks, so Mike is holding down our fort by himself until Grandma arrives!

Ninja Tire Swing

They had some new obstacles at ninjas this weekend.  James likes the tire swing -- although he can't quite make the long jump between the last two tires yet.  Matthew made a good attempt at the slack line and did a great job on the peg climb.

They also changed the warped wall so that it doesn't have places to hang on -- just markers for different heights.  Both of the boys can reach the "3" spot.
