Sunflowers

We made an afternoon trip to the sunflower farm when Nora and Adrian were here.  They have expanded since the last time we were there, with new duck races and gigantic farm equipment -- and a somewhat inexplicable poster asking visitors to "tell us which farm animal has the correct weapon."  (Apparently the answer is in the corn maze, which we didn't do.)

The kids enjoyed the duck racing -- Matthew got the Marine duck in honor of Grandpa Walt. :)

Another Whirlwind Visit

Nora, Adrian, and Daniel did a trip at the end of the summer up to Toronto (now that Americans are finally allowed to cross the border again, with proof of a negative covid test), and so we got to see them on their way there and their way back.

We had a belated birthday cake for Daniel, decorations courtesy of Mike. :)

Whirlwind Visit

Last weekend, our friends Leigh Ann and John came up for just a quick visit -- it was awesome to see them and we had a great time catching up.  They had never ridden on Maid of the Mist, so we took a trip up there (and got to go on the new electric boats -- which did not seem all that different from the previous boats.)  We also stuck around to see the sunset and the falls lit up at night.

At dinner, they really liked the Penzey's pepper, so we made a plan to go downtown to the Penzey's spice store the next day.  We had a fun time walking around Elmwood Village, and then we went to the Outer Harbor -- the kids still liked the playground!  :)  We finished up the day with a meal at Fresh Catch Poke (where they had the same passionfruit drink that we had in Hawaii!)  Mike tried the lobster roll -- it was surprisingly good, but not quite the same as in Maine!  (It was prepared with Old Bay seasoning rather than just butter, so it had a little more of a crab-type flavor.)
