Back to the Farm

The new owners of the farm that Walt's brother used to own (for many years before he and his wife passed away) very kindly invited us to come look at the house.  (It turns out that part of their business is remodeling/restoring old homes, so we were not the first people to take a tour of their house!)

The new owners have done a beautiful job with the place, but because of the extent of the repairs needed, they basically had to gut it and start again from scratch (although the new owner saved and used the original wood, etc., when he could, or replaced some of the things with other pieces from the same era -- he and his wife did the work themselves and he seemed like a very skilled craftsman).  So, although it is lovely, apparently it looks VERY different from when Walt and Geo and the kids used to spend time there!

It was really nice that our kids could see this place that meant so much to their grandfather, even though it wasn't quite the same as before.
