The first couple weeks of James's soccer season got rained out, but they were finally able to have their first practice on Tuesday. James had a great time! His friend Jake wasn't actually supposed to be on his team (James's team is San Jose and Jake's was supposed to be Salt Lake), but the coach let him join in anyhow. :)
I picked up James's uniform late, and they were all out of size small -- but fortunately the medium size worked.
He's playing with a different group than he did before (Amherst Soccer instead of KidsPlay), and we were a little worried that the kids would all be more advanced (since James didn't play last year), but it looks like a lot of them are at about the same level. And the coaches are volunteer parents, but ours seems to be really good.
The boys had their second grade play on Wednesday -- but unfortunately, Matthew was feeling sick during the day and went to the nurse. It turned out that he had a fever, so he had to miss the play -- very disappointing! James did a great job, though, and so did the other kids -- it was a very cute performance. James was Buggy Wuggy #4 and Matthew was supposed to be Firefly #2. (Every kid had a part with about two lines, which we thought was a nice way to do it.)
We went to the beach on Monday (and even then it was pretty crowded!) The weather was great, and the boys had fun with the boogie boards -- Matthew really got the hang of it and caught some good waves. James also enjoyed building a big sand castle!
