Happy 4th of July!

Mattie has his special hat on to celebrate Independence Day.

Unfortunately, James had to "celebrate" by going back on his CPAP. He had a couple of bradycardias (heart slowdowns) within an hour last night, so they thought he might need a little extra breathing support. Since the nurse also noticed some belly changes, we were worried because we thought it might be the start of a new round of intestinal troubles (or an infection), perhaps triggered somehow by the probiotics. But he's been totally fine since they put him on his CPAP around 1 AM, and an X-ray this morning revealed only that he had some dilation in his bowels, which could simply be air being pushed in by the CPAP or cannula. They discontinued the probiotics to be on the safe side, but the best guess right now is that he just got a bit tired and needed a little more breathing help for a while. (If it were something more serious, he'd definitely have been showing more signs before now.)

Both of them were doing well when we visited today. Hope you all have a wonderful Fourth!
