Last of Japan

Here are a last few pictures from the Japan trip.  The top one is from a (delicious) sushi meal with my UB colleagues.  The next few are the view of Fukuoka from one of the top floors of the hotel.  The second to last demonstrates the many features of Japanese toilets!  And the final one is the sign for the accessible toilet in the Tokyo airport -- I've never seen a bathroom with "ostomate" facilities before.

Before we knew we'd be coming to Singapore, I tried to talk Mike into making the Japan conference a family trip.  He had no interest at all in doing so.  And he was probably right -- Japan seems more expensive than Singapore (cabs and food, at least), it was a lot harder to navigate with the language difference, and the activities in the area weren't necessarily that kid-oriented (although if we'd gone to Tokyo or other places, it might have been a different story).  So, maybe some other time!  (And I'd definitely bring a phrase book in the future!)
