Canadian Falls

Around dinnertime, we headed over to Canada. Somewhat to our surprise, there was a long line to get in!  We waited about 45 minutes to through.  There was only one immigration officer on duty. This was right after Trump had made some insulting comments about Canada (Canada!), so we were not sure if we just happened to be at an unlucky time when the other people were on their break, or if this was some kind of subtle payback.

Once we were there, we headed for the Journey Beneath the Falls, which was a longish walk from the border. There wasn't much of a wait to get in, though.  It was a series of tunnels under the falls, and an observation deck that's right near the falls (above where the Maid of the Mist goes).  It was interesting to do, and the view over the falls was quite beautiful (including a big rainbow). We all agreed that it didn't compare to Cave of the Winds, though!

After we got done, we browsed around the gift shop and then had dinner in one of the only places that was open -- a pizza shop that was almost sold out of its pizza. :)  It was good enough, though.

It was dark by the time we were heading back, so we got to see the falls all lit up in different colors.  And then, when we were almost back to the bridge, they had the fireworks show!  We had definitely not planned to be there that late -- everyone was tired, especially our feet -- but it was super cool to see.

We had to wait a bit to get back in the United States as well. Isaac repeatedly told Seth that he couldn't be silly in the immigration office -- and he wasn't.  But the passport guy went around asking, "who's Melanie? who is Isaac?" etc., and then he looked at Seth's birth certificate and said, "What's your name?" and Seth said, "Me!"  Fortunately, they let us all back into the country anyhow. :)
