In Transit

Buffalo airport

Field Museum dino at O'Hare
We survived the 24+ hours of travel!  United is worse than Emirates in just about every respect (except the important one that it allowed us to avoid flying through the Middle East at a time of some uncertainty).  (We were originally scheduled to fly Qatar, but when the opportunity came up to change, I jumped at it to avoid the uncertainty of transiting through Doha at a time when other countries are closing their airspace to Qatar.)  The seats are less spacious, the entertainment system is smaller (and in fact didn't actually work for the first 15 minutes or so of the flight), the food is less generous and less delicious, and there were no amenities (eyeshade for sleeping, entertainment books for the kids).  But, they got us here safely, so we can't complain too much. :)

The boys were excellent travelers.  They were telling one of the flight attendants how they wanted to go back to Indonesia, and how maybe one day we would go to New Zealand -- such world travelers at a young age! :)
Matthew really liked this O'Hare tunnel
