City Hall

The boys had a field trip to City Hall last week, and Mike and I got to go along as chaperones. (Most of the other parents did, too!) We took a bus down to UB's South Campus, and then rode the subway downtown. It was a gorgeous day for an outing!

Matthew had learned from his previous field trip experience, when he was hungry at Kelkenberg Farms -- he ate an enormous breakfast. :)  James, meanwhile, passed up an opportunity to have a snack before they left, and was starving by the time he got back to school!

We had never been to City Hall before -- it's a really neat Art Deco building, and they have a cool observation area on the top floor.  (Mike and Matthew got to go to the outside observation deck; James's class ran out of time for that. We also had an adventure when the alarms went off when we were taking the elevator down to leave. Half the class hadn't gotten on the elevator, and had to walk down 13 stories!  I don't think we ever learned why the alarm went off; no firemen or police showed up.)

It was a fun trip!  We even got to go in the mayor's office, though the mayor wasn't there at the time. Matthew and his class got Buffalo pins as a souvenir.

I have never seen a group of people so excited about Millard Fillmore.
