Things They Say

The boys were playing with together the other day, and Mattie said, "James, because I love you so much and I don't want you to be sad, I'm going to give you a special treat. You can have this flashcard..."  (I should not that James was not actually sad at the time, but it was still very sweet!)

James explained to us this evening that 10 + 10 was twenty because "zero plus zero is zero, and one plus one is two."  We're not sure if someone told him that or if he just figured it out himself, but we were impressed!

The boys still love to have coins for their piggy banks.  The other day they consolidated all the coins into one piggy bank, and were quite pleased that it was all full!  ("We can buy everything!  We can buy an airplane!")In fact, they now have a repurposed grapefruit jar as their coin jar.  They even painted it with the same paints as they used on their piggies.  As Grandma Georgia remarked, sometime soon they won't want to have all their coins combined together, but for now it's wonderful that they share like that.
