Independence Eve

For the third of July, we went to the Independence Eve celebration at the Bisons' game. This is the minor league baseball team in town, and after the game they had a performance from the Philharmonic Orchestra and then fireworks.

It was a hot day and when we first arrived, our seats were directly in the sun! So, it wasn't the best beginning, but our comfort levels improved quite a bit once the sun dipped down below the stadium. The boys also enjoyed their trip to the gift shop for 4th of July gear. :)  (And Adrian befriended the lady next to us, who kept giving us snacks!)

The Bisons lost the game -- oh well!  After the game was the part I'd been waiting for -- the race between Chicken Wing, Hot Wing, Bleu Cheese, and Carrot.  (Celery recently retired.)  I believe Hot Wing was the winner. :)  This is what minor league is all about!

During the concert, they also had dancers/performers on the field. One of the songs was from Hook/Peter Pan, and they staged the battle between Hook and the crocodile using an inflatable pool toy alligator.  Awesome. :)

There were a lot of fireworks -- maybe too many!  As Nora or Adrian said, it was as if they had a bunch of fireworks and had to shoot them off really quick before the noise ordinances kicked in. :)  It was a bit overwhelming!
