Separate Outings
Yesterday the kids were at "camp" at Doodle Bugs, the daycare center just down the block from us. So they went on a field trip to the Science Museum and had a great time. (However, they were disappointed with lunch -- they were looking forward to the cheese pizza that was on the menu, but since they were at the museum for lunch, they had ham and cheese sandwiches instead, which apparently neither of them ate.) They loved the space room and even got to see the special Mummies exhibit.
Mike and I had to schlep down to the Social Security office downtown, because NY requires the actual SS card to get a driver's license -- nothing else will do, and I don't have any idea where my card is. But it was actually fairly easy -- just a couple minutes wait, and the woman who helped us was really nice. She gave us a hard time about living in the suburbs instead of the city, and then gave us a bunch of restaurant recommendations. :) That's the kind of place Buffalo is!
We managed to locate the Canalside area, where they have a lot of summer events (amidst a lot of construction!). There wasn't much going on at the time we were there, but the Naval Museum looked really cool (we figure we'll go when the South Dakota grandparents are here), and we had a nice meal overlooking the water.
