When we were in Bintan, we went on a Mangrove Tour. It was billed as an "eco-tour", but I think that's a stretch -- I was a bit amazed that we were able to see any animals at all with the loud motor of our boat and others on the river. But we did see some animals! We caught a glimpse of a couple monkeys up in the trees, and saw a sleeping mangrove snake up in another tree. It was raining for the early part of the tour, which wasn't so great, but then it cleared up, so the last bit of the boat ride was really nice. We had glimpses of some of the more "traditional" buildings up on stilts, but didn't get much information about them.
