(Alternate title: Take That, Custer State Park!)
We went to an Animal Adventure park on Wednesday. The main attraction is a "safari" ride through the park where they have a variety of exotic animals, including a zebra, a camel, water buffalo, and some yaks. And, Buffalo!!! (Or bison, if you want to be technical about it.) So, even though our cross-country quest to see buffalo failed, we were able to achieve it closer to home. :)
One cup of grain to feed the animals is included in the ticket price, and the animals come up to the bus to be fed. It was a lot of fun! The camel was especially amusing. (The older camel's name is Randy. James commented that it was like Coach Randy, from their camp. He said, "Wouldn't it be funny if Randy was the coach of the camels?")
There was also a llama that looked a lot like Grandma and Grandpa's miniature poodle, Mimi.
In addition to the ride, they had a "small animal adventure", which was billed as a petting zoo, but the animals were behind fences, so there wasn't really much petting opportunity. (And they also had ice cream, which was a bigger hit with at least some of the boys!)
