(Mike says, the best day yet!)
James is wearing clothes (today, an outfit from Grandma Barr) and swaddled, and is doing well with keeping up his temperature. He's still in his radiant warming bed, but it's not actually doing any warming (so, it's equivalent to an open crib like Matthew has). That means the babies could be in the same crib soon. In fact, they thought about doing it today, but since James is getting his probiotics for the next couple of days, they decided to wait just to be on the safe side (in case the probiotics somehow got transferred between the two of them; the effects of probiotics on babies that already have normally established gut flora are unknown.) But the brothers did get to have a quick visit! :) James is in the UNC hat, and Matthew has his eyes closed. (Apparently he had them open until the nurse went to get the camera.)
Matthew had his first bottle today! He did really well with it (and so did his Daddy). He ate about 10-12 ml from the bottle, which is somewhere between a third and a fourth of his total feeding. (He got the rest through his tube.) He can get bottles (or try breastfeeding) now at any feeding time when he's awake and acts interested. (Bottle feeding is tiring for preemies, though, so he may only do it once or twice a day to start out.)
Matthew followed up his feeding with another triple-diaper poop for his daddy. Once again, it was impressive in its volume, duration, and stink.
And I got to hold both babies at once for the first time!

What a WONDERFUL day!
You both look so happy and the boys are getting bigger by the second.
Congrats.
Best. Family. Photo. EVER!
You all look so happy and relaxed here, both boys comfortably snuggled up with Mom and Dad. Love it - and how wonderful that they are growing out of all their "accessories" like the CPAP/vent, which means they are so much easier to hold.
Way to grow, boys!
