I had a quick trip to DC for a conference the other week, and it happened to be on a couple of days with beautiful weather! And the best part was getting to spend the evening with college friends; we met up at Colleen's place for dinner. (On the way back to the hotel, I was briefly the only person in the Metro station -- kind of cool but also a bit creepy!)
Part of the conference was an "Advocacy Day" (going to the Capitol to advocate for research funding). I was a little nervous about it, but it turned out to be really fun. Congress wasn't in session, so we just met with the staff. (It is amazing how much in Washington is run by people in their mid-20s!)
