After we were done at the mall, we did a quick spin around the Syracuse campus (and, apparently, the SUNY Environmental Science and Forestry campus right next door), and then went to the Erie Canal Museum. (Of course, we listened to our Erie Canal songs CD on the way!) It was a really nice little museum with lots of information -- although the boys liked climbing around on the model canal boat the best (though they were disappointed that the rules prohibited climbing on its roof).

I love that museum! I also recommend the Salt Museum. Between those two, that's how I learned most of what I know about the history of Upstate NY.
