Church of the Holy Sepulchre

The best part of the afternoon was a visit to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, which is built over the place where Jesus was said to be crucified and buried.  The doorway in the second picture leads up to Golgatha, which is now a heavily decorated shrine. The stone at the entranceway (last picture) is where Jesus's body was said to be anointed for burial.

I was there as the Franciscan monks were doing their processional through the Stations of the Cross, singing the service at each stop.  It was very beautiful and moving.
