James is recovering from a long surgery. The good news is that he withstood the procedures just fine. The bad news is that the doctors had to remove his colon and were unable to reconnect his bowels. He still has the ostomy bag, and a matching G-tube. The colon was in poor shape, with scarring and a long narrow stretch that prevented the surgeons from removing only the damaged portion. The doctors will not attempt to reconnect the intestines until he is about a year old. So, until next May he will have an ostomy bag. On a more positive note, his small intestines look OK and they saved his ileum cecum valve located at the junction of the small intestine and start of the colon.
More later....

I know this is not the news you wanted! Stay strong and believe all will be well!
I do not know what all of that means but I am still believing!
Lots of love, love on James and Matthew and get rest!
We love you

PS Baby James, Auntie Ann had to go through alot too before I finally got the reports I wanted to hear! We love you and will not stop praying for you!
I am sorry that the news is not more positive... I am glad though that Jamsie had the opportunity for this surgery and that he will continue to receive excellent care. I trust that all his issues will be resolved as soon as possible! (My husband dealt with the same as a toddler/young child and the docs were able to restore everything perfectly -- so there is very good hope for a happy ending!!!)

All of you are in our thoughts several times every day and we are all cheering for James (and Matthew). Keep your chin up, Melanie and Mike--all will be well. In addition to wonderful parents, there is so much good karma around him that he will have no choice but to rapidly improve.
Don't hesitate to call if you need anything at all.

James continue to show what a tough little dude he is. I'm so proud of him and of both of you for the stamina you've all shown. Hoping for a smooth recovery for him.
