Cake, Cake, Cake-ity Cake

Auntie Erin went all out in the cake department!  Yum!  James even agreed to try a bite of cheesecake, but alas, he didn't much care for it. (The rest of us enjoyed it, though!)

Farm Field Trip

I got to be a chaperone for the Kelkenberg Farms field trip for Matthew's class last Friday. (Fortunately there were many chaperones, so each of us only had three kids to keep track of!) It was a really fun day with lots of adorable baby animals. I think the high point for Matthew was when the baby goat tried to eat his coat.  :)

I wondered why he was kind of slumped down during his pony ride -- turns out he was trying to do the whole thing without holding on to the saddle. :)

Cousins in Charleston

We took a quick weekend trip to Charleston to see the cousins for the boys' birthdays and Mother's Day!

Last Math Games

We went to the last Math Games session in James's class on Friday (and even got to see their "in progress" butterflies).

Before that, we met with some of the school support team to go over the plan for James's IEP next year. It looks like he will qualify for speech therapy, since he's having a bit of trouble with his S and Z sounds (the sounds that are typically hardest to hear for kids with hearing loss).  It's too bad that he needs it, but good that he can get it at school (assuming they agree at the official IEP meeting)-- and I suspect it will be helpful.

Em and Lem

We got to see Cousin Emily and little Lemmie this weekend (on their way to and from visiting friends in Toronto).  Matthew said, "Lemmie is very mature for a two year old -- he seems like a four year old!"  He is a really thoughtful and good-tempered kid, at least from our brief exposure.  He does make a pretty hilarious mad face when you ask him to, though!

Record Store Day

So, last Saturday (the day of the Science March) was also Record Store Day.  I didn't completely believe that this was a thing, but apparently it is -- the record store was very busy!  Mattie and James picked out a CD grab bag which actually turned out to have some decent music in it, and Mike picked up a couple of things as well.  We left before the live music started. :)
