Our lunch spot was right by Woodlawn State Park, a beach area. We decided to make a quick stop to check it out -- but our quick stop turned into a longer stay, because it was a lot nicer than we expected! The stormy weather cleared up, and the kids were super-excited about going swimming (they just swam in their clothes because we didn't think they'd be going all the way in!) The water was shallow, but it even had some waves for them to play in! And because the weather had been iffy all day, we had the beach practically to ourselves (plus two lifeguards).
I can't believe we never discovered this place before -- I wish we had come here last summer! I just assumed that the lake beaches would not be any good, but I was wrong. :)
