We took the boys out today to a pumpkin patch/play farm in Cary (called Green Acres).
It was a beautiful day but warmer than we expected. (Our original plan was to go in the morning before their nap, but of course, James decided to wake up at 5 AM this morning, so they ended up napping around 10:30 AM instead of their normal noon or 1 PM. You can't get too attached to a plan when toddlers are involved.)
The "farm" is kind of funny because it's right off of a busy road across from a generic-looking (yet probably extremely expensive) townhouse development. They had a bunch of tractors for kids to climb on, bounce houses, pony rides, a corn maze, and a hay maze for little ones. They also had hay rides and face painting. So, our guys were too little for about three-quarters of the activities -- it probably would be about perfect for kids who are three or older. But the hay maze was pretty cool, and Mattie of course enjoyed the big tractor tires. They watched the ponies go around with the older kids, and Mattie went through the hay tunnel. The big sandbox was probably the best thing from their perspective!
We decided against the hay ride because the boys seemed to be getting hot and tired. It was a fun outing, though!
