Yesterday we said goodbye to one of our favorite doctors -- she's finished with her fellowship and is off to Ohio for the next stage in her career. (Congratulations!!) We will miss her! Dr. Laurel is the one who took care of James (and us!) when he was sick. She had to deliver very bad news to us (more than once), but she did it in a way that made us feel like we were informed and that we were all in it together. She was absolutely wonderful about making sure we understood what was going on and answering all of our questions. So, while I'm sure that her medical skills are excellent, what we will remember most is her caring and compassion, which made a dark time for us a little easier.Brutus Buckeye, Matthew, James, and the two of us wish her all the best in her new adventures! The families at her new hospital will be lucky to have her.
